Veteran Housing

Without a safe environment and supportive housing and services, many veterans could not break the cycle of homelessness and move on to permanent housing.

Rock Valley Community Programs, Inc. (RVCP) provides 48 single occupancy suites (each with a separate kitchenette and bathroom) to offer transitional housing and supportive services to homeless veterans.  Each suite provides housing for one (1) homeless veteran, with the ability to serve 48 veterans at any given time. RVCP  works in conjunction with our supportive service providers at the Department of Veteran Affairs Madison Medical Center as well as local agencies to offer a comprehensive menu of services and supports that can be readily adjusted to meet each veteran’s needs and pathways.

A sober living environment is maintained. Veterans can stay for up to 24 months before transitioning to permanent housing.

A “Veteran’s Community” is RVCP’s focus.   Everything necessary for daily living is available on-site, and available at no cost to the veteran, to include: a community room, gym, walking path, laundry facilities (including laundry soap) resource room (library, computers, and internet access), cafeteria (three nutritious, balanced meals per day are provided), transportation, barber services, slightly used clothing closet, two computer training labs,  and substance use recovery support services, including group sessions focusing on maintaining sobriety and life-skills.

Blackhawk Technical College is conveniently located next door to the facility, and offers 24 Associates Degree programs, 14 certification programs, 6 two year technical diplomas, an apprenticeship program, and Basic Adult Skills classes (including GED Prep).

RVCP hosts pro-social activities, at no cost to the veteran, on a regular basis to encourage camaraderie and to maintain morale; these include bowling, movies, cook outs, parties, etc.
