Volunteering Opportunities
About Homeless Veterans
Volunteers with the Veteran Service Department play an important role in supporting Veteran Residents as they work toward stable, permanent housing. Volunteers serve as a valuable extension of the program by assisting with day-to-day operational needs and providing general support to the department.

Primary volunteer responsibilities may include assisting with program operations such as organizing and sorting donated clothing and supplies, supporting special projects, and helping ensure the department functions smoothly.

Additional duties may be assigned as program needs evolve and may include assisting with departmental events or fundraising activities.

All volunteer activities are approved in advance by the Program Director to ensure alignment with program needs and resident safety.

Please contact Tiffany Ford, Director of Development if you are interested in volunteering.

Volunteer Interaction Guidelines

We are grateful for the many volunteers who express interest in spending time with the veterans we serve. It is important to remember that while this is our workplace, it is the veterans’ home. To protect resident privacy, dignity, and safety, all volunteer interactions must be structured and approved in advance.

For this reason, informal visits or unplanned social time with residents are not permitted.

Additionally, program policy does not allow donors or volunteers to distribute items directly to veterans. All donations are coordinated and distributed by staff to ensure equity and appropriateness.

Groups interested in hosting an organized activity, such as a pizza party, potluck, presentation, or other planned event—are welcome to do so with prior approval. All group activities must be arranged in advance to ensure alignment with program guidelines and resident needs.
