About Homeless Veterans
The Veteran Service Department Volunteer will be an important link in the Veteran Resident’s transition to permanent housing. Primary duty of a volunteer will be transportation of veterans using RVCP vehicles for pre-approved transportations. Transportation is approved by a case manager or director. Transportation is provided through out Rock County and to the Madison and Rockford IL areas.
Volunteers will also perform various operational tasks to help the program function (i.e. sorting of clothing donations as they come in), acting as support staff to the department.
Other duties may be added as program needs change.
All Volunteer activities will be approved by the program director in advance.
Optional duties are participation in Department fundraising activities.

Must be over 18

Pass Background Check, Possess a Valid Driver’s License, Clean Driving Record

Due to the importance of this position for the veterans and the time and cost of the application process RVCP is asking that interested people to be able to commit to a regular weekly commitment of a minimum of eight (8) hours or two shifts, volunteers are welcome to cover more.

Many volunteers have inquired about hanging out with the veterans, or just coming out to sit and talk with them. Please remember that they do not live in our work space, we work in their homes. To protect the privacy of the residents in our program, we do ask that you take this into consideration with such requests.
Our policy does not allow donors to individually distribute donations to the veterans in the program. This must be done by staff.
If your group would like to throw a pizza party, do a potluck, a presentation, or put on an activity for the veterans in our program, this must be arranged in advance. Please contact Tiffany Ford (tford@rvcp.org or 608-741-4500 ext. 6514) to arrange.
